Girls Basketball hosted its 3rd Annual Jogathon event Wednesday afternoon. Students came out to participate after a long day of testing. Students from both general education and special education, athletes, and families walked together and jogged to complete their laps. The Eagles Cheer team came out to support all participants on the track. The Teen Center from the City of Norwalk came out to support as well by Face Painting. John Glenn staff, coaches, alumni, and members of the Cross Country team competed for time, running in the event. Sophmore Antonio Calderon finished in an incredible time of 16:34. Security guard Wesley Phillips ran his 5k in a time of 19:48, and alumni Andres Garcia followed with a time of 19:49 for the fastest times among the adults competing. Volunteers included staff, students and alumni all pulling together to make the event a huge success! Student Louie Velasquez helped DJ the event with his dad, playing everybody’s favorite songs. Several students won Six Flags passes in a raffle for all participants, including Trinity Castro from girls baskteball and Zachary Peryra a student from special education. To conclude the event, all students came together for dancing to favorites like the Cupid Shuffle and Cha Cha Slide.
Look to join the team next year in Fall for the 4th annual Jogathon event!
